Description

I made this poster to show the differences in the structure that these narrowband filters can reveal. This is the Eskimo Nebula, aka the Clown Face Nebula. It looks like a face wearing a furry parka. It is a planetary nebula which is a single star in the process of dying and blowing off its atmosphere. In this case, there are two shells, that probably occurred as separate events. This was captured by my husband Peter Ceravolo using a 16 inch Boller & Chivens telescope that he re-furbished. It is an f/18 system, focal length of 7400mm. Total of 4 hours data. Resolution is 0.13 arc seconds per pixel. Image processing by Debra Ceravolo.
